Town of Weston, Connecticut
Home MenuSustainable Weston Committee
In 2016, the Town of Weston established a Select Committee for Sustainability to increase awareness of our impact on global warming, to encourage the community to establish energy conservation goals, and reduce our consumption of fossil fuels. Today, rebranded as The Sustainable Weston Committee, we work together with the Board of Selectmen and town boards, commissions, committees, and departments to develop sound environmental policies and practices for Weston that will honor and strengthen the health, sustainability, and resiliency of our community. We seek to be responsible stewards by preserving and protecting Weston’s valuable natural resources — our wildlife, woodlands, air, water and soil — for today’s residents and future generations and by reducing Weston's impact on the global environment and climate. Through events and outreach, we connect with and educate Weston residents and businesses on ways to live and work more sustainably. We recognize that ecological sustainability and social justice must be considered together in any healthy community. The Sustainable Weston Committee partners with the Sustainable Weston Schools Committee to seek efficiencies and synergies as we develop initiatives to achieve our common goals.
Members of The Sustainable Weston Committee are Weston residents appointed by the Board of Selectmen. We meet monthly, usually on the second Wednesday of each month. Our meetings are posted on the Town Calendar and are open to the public.
