This hands-on class will delve into Middle Eastern ingredients and flavors as we prepare four dishes rooted in that region. Liz will introduce easy techniques and spice blends that will expand your palate and go-to recipe selection for entertaining at home. Together, we will prepare:
- Muhammara: Roasted Red Pepper Dip
- Hummus with Harissa (a versatile, subtly spicy condiment) Mushrooms
- Roasted Eggplant with Matbucha (a tomatoey condiment) and Tahini
- Chopped Israeli Vegetable Salad
All foods will be enjoyed throughout class along with pita bread and a special dessert provided by Liz. This event is BYO - feel free to bring a beverage to enjoy during class. About the instructor:Liz's passion is exploring seasonal ingredients at the intersection of local food ways and Jewish traditions. She's a longstanding board member of the Westport Farmers' Market where she advocates for local farmers and producers through culinary events and cooking classes.
