Part of the 2023 WEF Gardening Series

August 27, 2023 - 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM

Want to keep the color coming– and attract pollinators to your garden all season? Learn to plant for a continuous season of bloom in your yard, with abundant blossoms for pollinators – and you! – to enjoy. Loss of habitat is causing insect populations (and the birds that feed on them) to crash. We depend on native bees and other creatures to pollinate our flowers and crops.

In this program, join UConn Advanced Master Gardener, Master Composter, and Registered Monarch Waystation Creator Alice Ely as she shares tips for creating a diverse and pesticide-free habitat in our own yards that supports the very creatures we cannot live without . . . and provides a source of beauty and joy for ourselves. Conditions permitting, this talk will also allow participants to get an up-close look at live Monarch caterpillars and butterflies - our Pollinator poster-children - as they prepare for their epic annual migration to Mexico!

We are thrilled to be able to offer this free, 5-part gardening series, made possible through a generous grant from the Weston Education Foundation.

Even though this is a free event, it’s important that we have accurate numbers leading up to the program. As such, pre-registration is required - thank you for your assistance!
